FAQ

Below are some frequently asked questions.

If you have questions about anything not answered below, please send me an e-mail and I'd be happy to answer your questions.

How do I care for my pot or unique piece of art?

All my functional items are dishwasher and microwave-safe, but washing by hand is recommended to preserve the longevity of a piece (of course this depends on how clumsy you are…in my case the dishwasher is the safer option).

Pieces that have any gold or silver trim or mother of pearl finish (rainbow shine or unicorn) are NOT dishwasher & microwave safe. This is real metal and it will wear off if harsh detergent is used and the will spark if you put in the microwave.

Avoid sudden temperature changes; thermal shock can cause pottery to crack. Never use pottery on a hot stove stop, broiler, or open flame.  Avoid pouring boiling water into pottery. Boiling water can crack your pot!

Outside art garden pieces should be protected from the worst weather & temperature changes, remove pieces from outside during winter months.

What about the unglazed surfaces of my pot?

All pieces are fired to the recommended vitrification of that specific clay…. Well what does that mean? Technically -  Vitrification is the progressive partial fusion of a clay, or of a body, as a result of a firing process. As vitrification proceeds, the proportion of glassy bond increases and the apparent porosity of the fired product becomes progressively lower.  Practically – your pot is sealed by the firing and is no longer porous, it is as safe as the glazed surfaces

How are your items made?

All pieces are handmade by me in the Hamlet of Egypt within the Town of Perinton, a suburb of Rochester New York. I use different types of stoneware clay and handcraft each piece. All glazes are commercially manufactured and food safe unless otherwise noted. Because of this, colors and sizes between individual items may vary slightly. I try to take accurate as possible photographs of all pieces and give appropriate measurements. Please reach out with any questions prior to purchase

How can I buy your pottery?

The easiest is if you head over to my shop. I announce each shop update on social media and send an e-mail to my mailing list, so make sure that you sign up!

I just ordered something. When do you ship it?

All ready to ship pieces will be sent within 1 to 2 days. You will get an e-mail with your tracking information once your order is shipped. I ship mostly USPS Priority but all options are available. Custom orders will take 1 to 2 months to be ready to ship, generally, processing & shipping time is agreed upon when kicking off the project.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping cost varies depending on your location and the weight of the package. I know that this doesn`t help too much and you would like to get at least an estimation, you can use USPS.com. A typical mug will be shipped in an 8” x 8” x 8” box and will weigh 2 pounds. Your actual shipping cost will be calculated once your order is packed. In case of multiple orders, I am happy to combine shipping and refund any extra costs that are not used.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, I`m happy to ship your piece to wherever you are as long as you cover the cost of international shipping.

I live in your area, Can I pick up my order personally?

For sure! I am happy to meet my customers. Please check the “Free local pick up” option when you order and I will contact you via e-mail with pick up instructions within 1-2 business days.

How are the pieces packaged?

All orders are packed using recyclable materials where possible. I use paper boxes, craft paper and cardboard padding. I also reuse as many materials as possible, so if you receive peanuts or bubble wrap know that this material was previously used and that your reuse is encouraged. Artists in your area would likely appreciate passing on these materials for reuse again!

Can I place a custom order?

I am always open to discussing custom orders that are crafted in my style. Please contact me to discuss.

I just opened my package and something is broken.

I know, I know it is really sad, but sometimes even with the most careful packing ceramics can break. Please contact me within 48 hours of delivery to report any damage. If you received broken or damaged items, please take a picture and attach it to the email. A replacement or refund will be issued.

I just opened my package and what I got does not look like what I expected. Can I return a piece?

When ordering, please make sure to carefully read the descriptions and check the size of the item. Please contact me within 48 hours of delivery if you wish to return an item. If you are not satisfied with your order, I`m happy to issue you a refund. Items must be returned unused, undamaged and within 14 days in order to be refunded. Please make sure all pieces are individually wrapped and secured to avoid damage.  I am unable to refund the original shipping costs. You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning the items. I cannot issue a refund until an item is physically back in the studio.  I am not responsible for lost packages, or packages that are mistakenly marked as delivered by carriers.
